alyssa, a Brooklyn based artist, creates paintings and works on paper that explore thresholds between the physical and spiritual, drawing on her Gulf Coast upbringing and understanding of kinship with nature. Her perspective informs a process driven practice rooted in cycles of transformation, working with natural materials and automatism to build layered archaeological compositions inviting lingering and exploration of viewers.

My work emerges from automism– a process-driven practice of pooling liquid acrylics on raw canvas, layered with natural elements as tactile forces– to explore the threshold between physical life and inner spiritual experiences.
